Pallet-Track to support Midlands Air Ambulance Charity in 2023

This year, we have pledged to raise money for one of the UK’s vital emergency services, Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.

As the charity operates in the region of our Millfields Road hub, we hope our fundraising can make a real difference to the local community and surrounding counties.

The charity was chosen after a company-wide vote, which saw our 180-strong team voting in favour of dedicating all of our 2023 fundraising activities to support the vital work of the charity.

Operating across six Midlands counties, the charity is responsible for funding and operating three air ambulances and three critical care cars across the largest air ambulance operating region in the UK.

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity has had a strong presence in the area since launching in 1991, responding to more than 70,000 missions averaging 4,500 per year.

This vital service provides hospital-level care directly to the scene of an incident, giving patients the best possible chance of survival and recovery.

This isn’t the first time we have chosen to support a charity close to home, with the previous two years having seen us partner with St Basils, a Birmingham-based charity working to prevent young people becoming homeless, and Believe to Achieve, a Wolverhampton-based business who support vulnerable children and their families.

We raised over £16,000 for Believe to Achieve in 2022 and we are aiming to match this for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity this year.

Funding a vital service

Jon Cottrell, senior partnership executive at Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said: “We’re excited to be partnering with Pallet-Track this year as its chosen charity. Funding our vital service is always a challenge, especially during the rising cost of living we are all experiencing.

“Each air ambulance mission costs £2,950, with critical care car missions costing £288 and training for our team costing an average of £19,000 per year per person. Pallet-Track’s donation will provide much-needed funds to help us continue delivering the care this region so critically needs.

“No one ever plans to need our help, with our most common callouts involving cardiac arrests, strokes, road traffic collisions and trauma calls. It is paramount that we can attend these emergency callouts within ten minutes with the best equipment, which can only be made possible through donations.”

Fundraising is second nature

Caroline Green, chief executive of Pallet-Track, said: “Midlands Air Ambulance Charity provides our community and the surrounding counties with irreplaceable care and treatment.

“Since learning that the charity receives no Government funding for its daily operations, I am proud that the team here at Pallet-Track voted to have them as our dedicated charity for 2023.

“Throughout our years of raising money for charity here at Pallet-Track, we have developed a culture where volunteering to take part in fundraising activities is second nature.

“Whether spending a winter’s night sleeping rough, cycling in non-stop torrential rain for 127 miles or dressing in their finery for a gala, our team never shy away from a challenge.

“With the vital work that Midlands Air Ambulance Charity does, I have no doubt they will be just as dedicated this year.”
