Palletline welcomes Lockwood Group to the Network

East Midlands-based Lockwood Group has joined the Palletline network after nearly ten years with a rival network.

The family business will be working with Palletline from its Derbyshire site to provide network distribution services alongside its range of haulage, contract packing and warehousing solutions.

Established in 1965 Lockwood’s early history lies in the production and delivery of frozen foods. With refrigerated vehicles still a relatively new invention at the time, deliveries were only scheduled for the colder winter months, but the owners quickly seized the opportunity to utilise its fleet all year round and expanded its services to suit a range of customers and their products.

As time progressed the company branched out into other areas, delivering wide ranging products for a range of customers and keeping the vehicles on the road all year round.

Today Lockwood has over 600,000 sq ft of warehousing across seven sites, employs a 200-strong workforce and operates 86 vehicles with 219 trailers. Last year the business celebrated eight consecutive years of BRC accreditation at the highest grade: AA*.

Keith Allsop, Lockwood’s Transport & Warehouse Director said: “My team and I are excited to be joining forces with Palletline which will enable us to reduce our final leg delivery area in DE postcodes.

“A highly-respected member owned network with a 30-year heritage, the company has a reputation for innovation and for going the extra mile to meet customer needs. Their values are very much aligned with our own and we look forward to being a fully-fledged member of the network as we start a new chapter in our own journey.”

Glenn Baker, Network and Operations Director of Palletline, said: “We are delighted to welcome Lockwood Group on board with Palletline. The company is highly regarded and respected across the industry, not least across our membership.

“The Lockwood team are forward thinking with a focus on quality services and excellent customer service, and we are excited to be working with them for the mutual benefit of the network and the company alike.”
